ConnectiCon Otaku and More!

Nerds Helping Nerds in Times of Need

ConnectiCon Otaku and More!

ConnectiCon and ReaderCon 23 went off without a hitch. I am proud to report that the reception we received from both staff and attendees far exceeded our expectations at both events.

Our members responded to 8 major medical incidents requiring immediate medical assistance and Ambulance transport. One of the medical incidents on Friday had we not been onsite, the person would have been a serious, possible mortal, risk for injury without intervention. Operation Hammond also performed routine medical and social care for attendees, including basic cuts, bumps scrapes and so forth. We were also tasked with supporting the convention center nurse at the request of the CT convention center and ConnectiCon Operations. The convention center does not typically allow an outside group to work within the convention center, but they made an exception in this case, due to the demands of the convention.

On the Public Relation front we began with 50 likes on Facebook on Thursday, and today I am pleased to report that our facebook page and website have seen a HUGE increase in traffic and interest since ConnectiCon and ReaderCon. We have also attracted media and attention from other conventions and press both small and large. Please check out www.secondopiniongames.com our founder and VP are on this week?s podcast. We will also be featured on the Rhode Island SciFi club TV show next month. Our very own Paige Murray did a fantastic interview with them. www.youtube.com/RISFC www.risfc.org

Be sure to dig around our new website. We are continually updating it and making changes. For those who have not filled out the volunteer form please go to the Volunteer Section on our website and fill it out. It does not take long and it is the only way for us to have your membership information on file. We are actively looking for new members so please fill it out and you will hear back from us. You cannot be an official member of Operation Hammond if you fail to provide us with this information.

Lastly I would like to sincerely thank you all for your support and dedication to Operation Hammond. I would like to especially thank ConnectiCon and ReaderCon senior staff for their support and cooperation.? Without everyone’s support, we would not have achieved so much so quickly. Please tell your friends about us and our mission. The more support we have, the better. We are one of the only nonprofit organizations dedicated to helping nerds in times of need and we cannot do it without your help.

We still have a lot of things in the pipeline in the near future. So please keep an eye on our facebook and on our website. Our next big push is going to be on the fundraising front so stay tuned for more on that. We are off to Otakon this weekend for some good old fashion R&R in Baltimore. Be sure to follow our Facebook and Twitter feeds for fun filled updates throughout the weekend.
