ConnectiCon in Review
ConnectiCon 2013 was the largest Operation Hammond event to date by sheer number of people we assisted and aided. We worked closely with the convention center nurse, The Marriott Hotel and the ConnectiCon staff to aid and assist over 500 attendees with various medical issues and incidents. We did everything from hand out band aids, aid and assist people with medical conditions to facilitate emergency ambulance transport to hospital.
We collected over 100 dollars in donations from our donation can on our table on the third floor. We met countless people, gained new members and met a lot of cool looking cosplayers. Our table was so busy we ran out of our most popular promotional hand out. If you met us last weekend be sure to visit our donation page to see how you can help us with our mission of helping nerds in times of need. Check out our photo montage video on our?Facebook page to see all the cool cosplayers we met last weekend.
We attracted positive media attention from both ConnectiCon guests and?Second Opinion Games. Our founder and secretary were featured on the Second Opinion Games podcast. We had a fantastic discussion about why we do what we do for the community. We also had fantastic conversations with John St John and Marina Sirtis about ?Operation Hammond.
For the first time in our history we had plenty of equipment to fully staff our response operations. We rolled out our new 2 way radio system which worked very well. Each member that was on duty had a patrol bag with all the contents needed to render front line first aid. However ?all the equipment we own requires maintaining and we can?t do that without donations from the public and our fans. In the near future we hope to raise enough money to buy an AED but we can?t do it without support from you, our fans.
We look forward to coming back to ConnectiCon next year. In the meantime keep an eye out on our website, Facebook and Twitter for all the latest updates.
